My cylinder bent from too much travel and inattention on my part..

Anyway, I picked up the new cylinder today (3 inch piston, 10 inch stroke), more snow is coming so there's no time to waste

I may see if I can get a piece of chromed 1 1/4 round stock to replace the old rod, I know it's available. If I can get the rod for a good price, repair the cylinder and re-use it for something else, I may recoup part of my cost.

Got the steel cut for the new anchor bracket, and the old bracket cut off the frame. The new one should be quite a bit stronger than the old.

All told the "error" in planning will cost me about a hundred Semolians, this is what I get for trusting someone else's engineering. I do have to replace one hydraulic hose too, the old one is too short now with the shorter cylinder and change in bracket placement.

From what I can tell, the new cylinder should be CFD as far as size goes, and the new bracket will be a better looking job too. Other than the cost of the second cylinder, it's been an interesting exercise and a learning experience.

I should have some pics up by the weekend, I'll weld up the bracket on Friday weather permitting.

If this doesn't work, Craig's in big trouble..

I have posted all the pics of the rear blade that I put on and showed every stage of the layout. When you find the point where you get equal angles right and left you might like just a touch more in the direction that you grade to. I am right handed. The cylinder at 3"x 10" sounds good. Just remember not to change the blade angle under full tip load as then the pressure will be back to the hydraulic system. Another way to look at the cylinder loading is you can pull the quick couplers off of the tractor and the blade will not change the angle because the oil is locked in.
I was told by a Case mechanic that on the 6 way blades if under maximum angle push they operated the spool it could bugle a cylinder. As long as the spools were in neutral it was ok.
If was not so far I could come over and fix it. The other thing to think about is what direction do you want the blade tip to move in when you pull or push the spool lever.
When I pull my lever back the right blade tip moves back.
I was thinking of changing all my quick couplers around so a pull back causes a positive flow to always make the cylinder move the same direction.

Mine does the same, i.e. the blade angles to the right when you pull the lever back.

My hoses and couplers are colour coded so it's easy to get them right the first time.

Another way to do it is to put a male and female QC on the remote bracket on the tractor, it's impossible to mix them up. I have the two females on the tractor, they were the most expensive of the two parts, as well as being the most susceptible to rust and dirt if left outside for storage.

Got 'er together and painted up, trials went well this morning.

Moving the anchor point as Craig suggested was the solution, easier than dismantling the cylinder and installing a stop collar.

Looks good, but do you get enough angle with it set up that way? Looks like 25* or less to me. As long as it works ok, then great.

It's probably close to 35 degrees, I think the last set of holes in the original pin plates is 45*, and the next-to-last set lines up at the limits of travel. Snow flows along it quite well at that angle.

That IS funny.. I shot PSE for a lot of years, finally got tired of them and tried a Mathews. Haven't shot anything else since. I had an Ultramax (still have a set of 70 lb limbs for that I need to move) and a Conquest. Both bows got stolen at the 2000 Canadian 3D Nationals. I replaced them with a pair of MQ-1's, sold one of those and still have the other. Best-shooting bow I've ever had.
