I have a dump trailer that only being used once a month or so... If I relocate (temporarely)
whole box with the battery, pump, valve, remote etc. to the back of the tractor (weight box!), can I use it to drive grapple cylinder? I know, battery will have to be charged often. Any other disadventages/problems? Up/down dump controls should be good to use on grapple. Do not want to mess with the tractor hydraulics.
Kubota B7800.

Does your valve have two work ports on your valve, and are both being used now. If your hyd system was used with a DA cyl, then you will have up /dn force, but if it was used with a SA cyl, you will have power up, and gravity down.

Is it lever valve or electric valve?

Don't know the reason you don't want to mess with the tractor hyd, but this valve is simple to install and operate.

Hyd valve to operate grapple, using a thumb switch.

Thanks, JJ
It's an electric valve and DA cylinder (power UP/power DN). What do I need to do to match dump trailer hydraulics to grapple cylinder (2500 psi 2" bore x 6" stroke)?

Don't know the high pressure on a dump trailer hyd, but it should be OK with that 2500 psi cyl.

Most of the power packs here, are about 2500 psi.

The GPM volume will determine speed.of cyl extend and retract.

Where will you put the power pack to put hands on when using grapple? Of course if it is a switch, you can mount that anywhere.

I have a power pack that is lever operated.

The remote has a magnetic base with UP and DN buttons-will be easy to mount and operate. Looking at the spec the primary relief valve preset @3200 psi. Is that too much for the 2500 psi cylinder?

Yes, if your cyl is rated to 2500 psi, reset the relief to about 2450 psi.

That pressure will give you a push force of 7,697 lbs, more than enough for a grapple.

I built a grapple attachment for my 60" bucket that has 6 grapples & one 2" cylinder. I don't know how you intend to use yours, but for mine, All I wanted to do was hold brush/limbs or a log or two into my bucket. It doesn't take much pressure to do that. If anything, I probably should restrict the pressure to that function.
