MtnViewRanch promotes Fit Rite Hydraulics Top and Tilt cylinders for use as replacement for top link and one side link so as to allow for hydraulic control/adjustment of 3PH implements.
Has anyone here bought from them? If so what are your opinions on the 'system'?

Thanks,

CM

I got mine from Fit Rite Hydraulics and Brian was super to work with. When I had a problem he took care of it immediately. One thing - the Fit Rite does not have a pilot operated check like some of the links I have seen offered. If your control valve has any leakage the cylinder will extend due to this leakage. The rear remote valve I have for my tilt link does leak so if I leave an implement raised overnight I will find it tilted in the morning. Hasn't really been a problem because I find myself adjusting the tilt more than I ever thought I would. I had a tractor without the Top and Tilt for 10 years and never knew what I was missing.

What you need that for? Taking up farming?:D

Yes I do. Brian is great to work with! I really wanted to get something local, but nobody around here wants to do something for the "little guy". I love having the hydraulic top link, makes everything easier. I got mine specifically to use with my carryall, so it would act like a forklift, which it does, exactly as I expected it to. As a bonus, it is a lot easier to hook up attachments.

Highly recommend Fit-rite.

I bought a top link from Brian and he was very helpful and took the time to listen to what you needed. Cylinder is HD and works great.

What is a pilot check?
What problem did you have with your Fit Rite setup?
thx,

What is a pilot check?
CM

Some top/side link suppliers use a dual piloted check valve on each the hydraulic cylinders. The check valve prevents leak down due to the tractor's valve. Most view it as a safety device because the check value will not allow hydraulic ram movement unless hydraulic pressure is applied to the valve.

There is an argument for not using a check valve which is to allow the three point device to float, something a check value would not allow.

I chose to use a side/top link with dual piloted check values on my tractor, 1- safety, 2 - I did not want my attachments to move due to leak. When I am bush hogging or grading, I wanted a set and forget. There does not appear to be a price difference between one with and with out the check valve, at least from the vendors here. If you search, there is a discussion somewhere on here which explores the pros and cons of a check valve.

The double check valve is designed to lock the cyl movement.

Flow is free in one direction and blocked in the reverse direction until pilot pressure is applied.

When you want to move the cyl, you have to overcome the pilot ratio pressure in the cyl caused by the weight of the implement.
