daryng,

All cyl fluid usually exits the OUT/TANK port, and is low pressure.

However in a valve with no PB, all fluid will exit the OUT/tank port. If this is the only valve, there will be no or very little back pressure, but if another valve is added downstream, and is activated, this is what cases trouble with back pressure on the OUT port.

If you use the DO3 subplates from Surplus Hydraulics, you should be safe.

that is something that does concern me. i will have another valve and the 3pt hitch hydraulics running after the solenoid valve. i was hoping i wouldn't need to run a do3 subplate type setup due too the space limitations that i will have. i was hoping it could get it done with a smaller monoblock type of setup. my biggest fear is that i will place too much strain on the pump, and a new pump is pretty salty...

would it be possible to run a check valve after the solenoid valve to prevent any back pressure from the valves down the circuit?

Any chance that you would consider a diverter valve? A lot less hassle IMO.
