G'day

I own a new GC2600.

When the PTO is engaged, it is seriously harsh. I mean I clench my teeth every time I operate the PTO.

It doesn't matter how slowly I move the PTO lever forward for engagement it just goes BANG when it engages.

The implements I have are a 1.2m rotary hoe that I bought with the tractor and a little 4 foot slasher.

I always drop the engine to idle (about 900rpm) to engage the PTO.

You don't have to be an engineer to know that something is going to break somewhere eventually, and probably sooner than later.

To be honest I don't know if the mechanism for the PTO is hydraulic or electric, but the way it behaves, I really wonder if the engineers at MF
ever checked the PTO operation or just built it and left it at that.

Other than that the tractor is terrific. I had an old TEA 20 for about 30 years and my dad had it for about 20 years before that.

If there is anyone who can shed some light on what can be done to remedy this aggressive PTO behaviour I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
