case 580ck
We replaced the seals on the hydraulic cylinder for the bucket...the one closest to the bucket.
when we turn on the machine and start it and when we shut if off...it drips a few drops of fluid from where the threads are.
but when the bucket it being operated it doesn't leak at all.
any ideas?
also...Is it normal for the bucket to close slower than it opens?
We have a case 580ck b series
Thanks

Did you you use thread seal when putting it back together?

NO...and thats where its leaking from...we thought originally that we didnt lube everything up enough when putting everything back together, because it only leaked for a few minutes, and then stopped...should we take apart and use a thread seal. and what kind

Look closely at the barrel.....these barrels are made of thin steel and can develop cracks in the cyl tubing itself

Sometimes the crack is just under the weld at the fitting

Or maybe you just need to redo the oring/backup seals at the gland or port

There are no pipe threads on Case equipment.....if it's an oring leaking then only use a good #2 grease on seals

if it's leaking at the gland oring make sure you put the backup ring on the opposite side of the pressure (common for the backup ring to twist up during installation if not enough lube on seals)
