You can probably make a hyd powered saw unit out of a small hyd motor, sprocket
and chain to match.

You would want a motor spool for the control valve.

I considered buying a small hyd motor first, but quickly found that it is more ecomonical to
get one of these old Ackleys. Esp when you consider the need for bar, chain, sprocket, too.

You don't want a motor spool for the reasons I stated. Esp since the braking action eliminates
the need for an external brake, as you have with gas saws.

Do these saws bleed off a little hydraulic oil for the chain oiler?

A few years back I made one using a electric chain saw. I called it The poor man's pole saw. I had to spring load it for side to side and for to much start pressure. A little movement of the tractor is a hole lot at the saw. It works real good and safe. I only got $20.00 inthe saw, $20.00 in top rail pipe. I got to use it as soon as the hay gets cut, hope maybe by the end of this week.

How do you power the saw? Got any pix?

This is how one man did it. I've ordered parts to start one, but still need a few things and all the metal parts. Purchased a saw off ebay.

I have a small 1500 watt generator that I put in my carryall basket. Here is a picture with it on my L3130 that I had. I well be mounting it on my L4240 this coming week and well get some pictures of how I got it spring loaded.
All I can say it sure works good.

So, will your saw cut both horizontal branches and vertical trunks?
