L4610 GST shows 2700 rpm for 540 on rear PTO (Operators Manual) but my Engine Tach shows 2500? My (O. M.) has it printed 2700 rpm in more than one place. Ex. p42, quote ... "there is a PTO -1 540 rpm indicated mark on the tachometer board..." Hummmm?

My tractor is a 2001 V2203-EHA

Anybody else run into this?

I'm now figuring my tach rpm for running my new front mounted hydraulic motor that powers my loader mounted "front snow blower" (ie w/o the 72" bucket).

Thanks for info.

Pic 4 the old way last winter .................... pic yet to be taken for the NEW way.

I tried finding a report with Nebraska tractor test, no dice. I did see that rated engine power is at 2700rpm though. And the current L4600 is 2600rpm with 540 pto. It's not out of the ordinary to have the PTO speed below rated power speed because it saves a little wear and fuel. And they don't want to change the drivetrain every time they tweak the engines.

I would use 2500-2600rpm and call it a day. My assumption is that the tach gets it's signal from the alternator so there is bound to be some error anyway. :)

Thanks. I wonder how Kubota can print in multiple places that 2700 (crank*) rpm = 540 rear PTO rpm. But, right there in the tractor tach is a large triangular index at 2500 rpm indicating 540 PTO. One of them is clearly wrong. Max operating rpm and PTO rpm are not always pegged/same to each other.............. What ever (crank*) rpm makes 540 PTO....... that should have the tachometer triangle index on it.

Gotta be other tractors with this same mistake? * my word

Agree. As I recall all of my dad's tractors had the PTO speed a couple hundered rpm's below red line.

I did some more digging for you and looked at the parts book. Took me a half hour to figure out what connects to what, fipping pages back and forth, but I believe 2700rpm is your PTO speed.
2700rpm engine into 18 tooth gear, thru a 21 tooth idler, into a 33 tooth gear = 1473rpm
1473rpm into 11 tooth gear, to a 30 tooth gear = 540rpm

Thanks for the hard work sleuthing and ferreting out the info! Perhaps the L4610 owners will offer info on their tractors ie 540 index on the 2500 rpm or not. It is as though Kubota had a bunch of 2500/540 Tachometers and mounted them even though they disagree with the Operators Manual.

How many other tractors have this situation? Perhaps others will take notice what their Operators Manual says and see if what is on their instrument panel is the same?
