Tundraman:

There's a downside to skidding firewood out to your truck: the grit is murder on chainsaws. Lately I've taken to driving the G174 right to the tree and cutting and loading there. The implement for this is a 10 cu. ft. 3 pt. hitch dump box which I found at a machinery dealer.

I combined this indispensable item with a new Husqvarna 346xp and splitter mounted on the TAFE 351 yesterday to move a cubic cord of maple and walnut into my shop. The Bolens with the narrow box can back around my stationary woodworking tools over to the wood pile with minimal effort. The height adjustment of the box is great for saving back strain. The rig is also easy to push out of the way on a concrete floor if you run out of room where you are piling.

According to my wife the dump box looks too small to be of much use, but with it I get a lot done, very efficiently.
