I turned/machined the O.D. of the clutch shaft where it was badly worn.
I then got a piece of oil lite bronze bushing material and machined a new
pilot bushing to press into crankshaft. here are a few pictures.

I finally had time to clean the inside of transmission case.
It cleaned up nicely. While I was cleaning I decided to check the reverse
gear because if felt to be to loose on its shaft.
Well more bad news, The needle bearing inside of the reverse
gear failed and wiped out the reverse gear shaft.
So far I've had no luck finding a replacement. Another setback.
here are a few pictures of the trans case and reverse gear and shaft.

Just a thought you might have it spray welded and reground,if you can't find one.

I may have to undercut the shaft where its worn to a smaller and concentric
diameter and then have it hard chromed to an oversized diameter and then I'll
have to set it up in a cylindrical grinder and grind the O.D. back to
the correct size.

I had the differential assembly which still had the tires on it
resting on my floor jack and my jack leaks down over time.
So the jack leaked down and the diff rolled forward and
the center assembly turned up side down. No harm
there was no oil in it and nothing hit the floor. When I
lifted the center assembly up right something in the left
wheel jammed in the reduction gears. I rolled it up side down
again several times and finally I heard something drop
inside the case and now the wheel turned free. I though
hmmmm but OK I'll now work on other parts needing
repair. Today it jammed again so I now have to remove
axle assembly and see what's up. Well here are a few
pictures of what was in there

Well I guess that proves out your earlier thought that a ball bearing cage failed ! You sure do nice work.

How did the transmission oil look when you first got the tractor? Was the level low? Was there a lot of water contamination?

the oil level was not low and the oil did not appear to have any water in it.

Here are a few pictures after I cleaned the differential housing and the axle bearings. Also a few pictures of my train wreck of a garage
and my home made A frame to hoist the engine when I split
the tractor.

I am a 73 year old woman and I need some help. Could you tell me where the alternator is located on the Bolens G154, so I can take it off and get a rebuilt one. If you can help I would be very thankful
