My 1985 TL2301D tractor has a E3AG1 1.429L (25 hp) diesel engine. It has started to have a very minor amount of blow-by. I hope it is not to late, that maybe a better selection of engine oil might be all I have to do to address the problem, or an additive. I have been using 10w30 oil for the last 5 years. In the winter the coldest it gets is -11 and as high as 90 in the summer. I would appreciate your suggestians

How many hours are on it? In theory thicker oil can help somewhat, but a bigger, more sinister problem is the effects of time and usage on an engine. It will likely require a rebuild depending on how much tolerance you have for blow-by and smoking.

I agree with you. However, I was mistaken in calling it blow-by. Turns out the engine was overheating from low radiator coolant level. The temp gauge doesn't work so it took some addition inspection to find this. The out-venting, (minor), went away when more coolant was added.

Glad it was something easy to fix - always a bummer when it's not :(
