Phil, the L4610 is Kubota-sorry about that. Your right though, it's a tough decision but it's fun! Just went to the Kubota dealer 1 last time and they are now $700.00 less for the L4610 than the JD4600-makes a little easier decision?!?! I don't know about the trade-in price for the L4200, but 28,800 sounds kind of high for purchase price. I'm at 26,500 for a new L4610 with Hydro,4x4,FEL,Hard door Curtis Cab with heat/defrost, engine block heater, R1's, and ballast in rear tires. JD4600 was 27,200 for same outfit-New, but manufactured in early part of 2000.

Jeff,
If I could have gotten the 4610 cheaper I would have gone with it. My case was just the opposite. It was more expensive for the 4610 than the 4600. What are they giving you just the tractor and loader for so I can compare to what I was being offered, if you don't mind?

Phil,
If you can buy that setup for $16,000 that is a heck of a buy. I see those 4200's for that much without a cab!

Richard,
I have been dealing with that package for so long I have kind of gotten away from the per item charge-but I believe the JD4600 W/FEL,Hydro,4x4,R1's was around 23,800-sound about right?

Jeff,
Just to let you know that's pretty high. I paid $20,800 for my 4600 with third remote and loader. That may be why you are right at the same price with the kubota. The Kubota sounds like the guy is giving you a much better deal. That $23,800 is retail price.

Richard,
Thanks for the info! The JD dealer has been very helpful, and has also come down considerably in price since we began-but seems pretty high to me as well, and is closest dealer(55 miles) Next JD dealer is over 100 miles away and I would prefer to stay local-I am now pretty sure about L4610.
Thanks again!

Yea for those prices I would probably choose the 4610 as well. I wish there was someplace like kelly blue book or something that you could see list prices for tractors. I know there are the places that you can pay for but would be nice just to see what everything else really goes for and who's really giving you a good deal.

Richard, Jeff:
The person with the 1997 Kubota 4200 w cab (6 actual hours) paid 28,800 and was looking for 26,000. Dealer trade price is 16,000 or so (dealer said).
The first quotes I have received are disappointing (all w 16LA FEL): TC40D, $22,200; TC45D, $23,900. JD4600 w FEL, Power Reverser, FWD= 28,160 list, $23,500 offer.

No way is it worth $26k! I can't believe the prices they are charging you. Even on jdlawns.com they are only about $22,500. When I bought mine it was $1700 less than that. I would sure keep bargaining if it was me.

Phil,
26,000 is not a good price for the L4200. If you look back to earlier posts Carver had a used 1998 L4200 for sale in 4/2000 16,900, 325 Hrs,FEL,4wd,GST,Warranty,w/o cab-add $4000??-still much lower price. Also, the L4610 I will probably purchase is an all around better tractor and I am paying 26,500 for HST,FEL,rear ballast,Curtis hard cab w/heat and defrost, and engine block heater(cab is roughly 3000-1500 more for Kubota).

I agree, asking 26,000 for a 1997 Kubota 4200, even if spotless with only 6 hrs, is unrealistic, but I can understand how the guy feels. Note: this is not dealer price-- dealer said about $16,000 trade-in value. I hope the JD and NH holds better value than this Kubota!
