Tractor
JD 2210
A friend of mine has a 4100, and has offered to give me his front blade, a 54" with hyd lift and angle, if it will fit my tractor. He also has a 430 (diesel) and a Gator 6x4, both of wich have blades and he prefers to use these for snow removal. He has no plans to use the blade on the 4100. The 4100 came with the property and also has a loader which never comes off.

I have a 2210, which appears to be very similar to the 4100. The blade and hydraulic mount appear to be nearly new, as they still had tags on them from the local dealer. The mount has the following information: Model: BM18644 S/N 063660 with the description "quick hitch 4100 w/ hyd. angle"

I have done some exhaustive searches on the JD parts and the product site, and have come up empty. I can not find any detailed information on the quick hitch mounts that will fit either the 2210, nor the 4100. How can I find out this information? I would like to know what I need to mount the quick hitch to my tractor. I figure that at the very least I may be able to use the hydraulics, and the blade, and get a new mount.

I think the JD 54" blade was used in many applications, from the 425 series to present garden tractors, and in the current 2000 series tractors. I'm not familiar with the hydraulic mounts for the 4100, but many times JD uses the same Quick-hitch with different adapters for the specific tractor. It is this way with my JD 425 garden tractor and my 2520.
I wouldn't turn down a 'gift' like that, it offers too many possibilities, and is adaptable. If you go onto the JD web-site, into the parts section, you can compare by part number each part and see what is the same or different for each tractor and attachment. Hope I've been some help. Craig

As GM said, the blade setup is the same, but the QH will be a little different. A call to the dealer will confirm the #s though...

Or you can bring it up here and we can "make" it fit:D

Ok, I get what you both say, I just can not find the QH adapter on the JD parts site for the 2210. I did some more searching today, and just couln't quite get there. Any suggestions on where I can find it would be greatly appreciated. Some times the JD parts site can be so frustraing, and inconsistant.

BTW, My friend also has the QH adapter for his 4100. It may fit the 2210, but I won't know until I get it here. Hopefully by this weekend I can go get it all, but I have to change out the u-joints in my truck's driveshaft first.

Yes, I agree! I just looked myself and could not find it. I am pretty sure its a different QH though, have you called JD?

PS. Why the name change?

Kenny D,
First let me answer your P.S. I had to change my name, because I forgot my password, and I was registered under a now defunct email address, so I had to re-register. Sux, I think, cause now I am a "newbie" Oh well... BTW, since you're in Westminster, I am guessing you deal mostly with Finch Services in Westminster. I go to Gladhill in Damascus, Their parts guys are pretty good, but I think they tend to jack up the pricing over the website pricing.

Now back to the matter at hand. After much searching, I finally found what I was looking for on the JDparts site, though I did it with a round-about way to get there.

I used a "where used" search on the P/N for the 4100 QH (BM18644). That led me to the 54 inch blade index, and consequently the 2210 and the 4100 parts indexing. This is still the only way I can get there.

So I fixed the bad u-joint in my truck this week, and I picked up the everything from my friend's house today. After getting it home found that it won't work with my tractor, as is. However there are many parts shared among the two assemblies.

I was making a list of the parts that I would need to buy to change it over from the 4100 to the 2210, and the parts total was around $600. Basically the hydraulic cylinders are the same, and the bracket that blade attaches to is also the same.

There are three "big ticket" items that would have to be swapped out. See the attached pdf file for details.

First the Mounting Brackets shown on the 2210 list as #16, and the 4100 is #1 on it's list. I really have no choice but to buy one of these, and it's associated pin, about $200.

The next item are the Supports, show as #19 for the 2210, and #25 for the 4100. Again about $200, and again, this item and it's associated parts is a must.

The last is the triangular shaped Frame that the hydraulics mount on. #25 and #18 respectively for the 2210/4100, also about $200. For this item, I may be able to use the 4100 frame with the 2210 support. The 2210 support is much wider than the 4100 support so by adding some spacers to the mounting shaft it may work. I would need to weld the spacers to the support otherwise the pin would "see" too many bending forces.

Everything I got from my friend still had the P/N and Price tags on them from the dealer. The Quick hitch, and the adapter bracket were only $215, and $495 new. In an effort to save some money, I looked to see if there was a P/N for the 2210 Quick hitch, which there was, BM20921. I added it to the shopping cart to get a price, and it comes up as an invalid number. The JDParts web site Strikes Again! This is strange, this is the same part number for the 2305 which is a current model. So is there new number for the QH for the 2210/2305? If so, I'd like to know what it sells for. I won't be able to go to the local dealer until next Friday at the earliest. I wonder if they would be willng to do some part trading...

Interesting, I did no think it was the same QH.
You could also ask the dealer what he will give you for a trade in for this QH, and see what the difference in $$$ will be.

The BM # probably did not come in the shopping cart because it is considered what they call "whole good" and must be ordered through a salesman rather than the parts counter. I went through this with my PowerBeyond kit.

Those are great attachments you did, curious how you did it?

I printed out the "illustration with keylines" from the website to Adobe, then I combined them into a single pdf file. You have to have Adobe Professional to do this, The reader that everyone has won't do it. Printing from the JDparts web site is a bit tricky, after selecting what you want to print from the drop down list a pop-up window "pops" up. I was having trouble with that because I have two pop-up blockers working.

I'll have to go there on Friday to see what the dealer has to say. If they can deal, it'd be nice to get what I need for less than the parts cost. If they can't deal, I'll have to start odering some parts. The "must have" items first, then the frame if I have to. I haven't done a complete crossover list yet, so there may be a few items I'll have to order later as well.

Just a quick update,

The dealer was able to give me a trade on the QH from the 4100 for a completely new setup for my 2210. It took a about 10 days for them to get it, and now it is all set up on my tractor. I did have to give them some $$, and I probably offered them more than I should have. I certainly can't complain since I got the whole setup for free.

It is now on my tractor and working great. I also bought a $40 stall mat from TSC and cut a strip for the blade. It worked really well on the snow we just had. I only used the 3 PH blower in a few areas that there was no place to push the snow.

A few other "mods" I did since this last post.

I finally put together a light bar. I bought the lights at Walmat a couple of years ago, and I found some great magnets at Harbor Freight. I mounted the lights and magnets to a piece of perforated angle I had laying around, and wired it to a QD connector that I also us for my tow behind sprayer, all controlled by a switch in the dash that I put in. The lights worked great while plowing in evening!

I also bought the JD block heater (about $100 with the mounting flange) and installed it as well. I haven't had a chance to try it out to see how much of a difference it makes in starting in cold weather. I forgot to plug it in before the last snow.
