Default JD 1050

My 1050 wants to pop out of reverse unless I keep my hand on the shifter. I took the cover off and found that that reverse shift rail does not want to slide all the way into position like the other rails. The fork appears not to be bent, the detent ball bearings are new as well as the springs. Any insight?

On my Tacoma pickup, a little teflon bushing just below the shifter ball area broke and caused it to not stay in 5th gear. Could your 1050 have some sort of gizmo like this?

No, there is nothing like that in the 1050.
