Default About the 4200

Just curious. . . . I heard from a neighbor (who has a 27HP Yanmar), that Yanmar makes the JD4100. If so, do they also make the 4200, 4300...... Are these tractors manufactured in Japan or are thay assembled in the states using imported parts. If so, at what size does JD make in the states? What ablut the smaller GT's?

skent, yes Yanmar makes the 4100 as well as the 790 and 990. They also make the engines for the rest of the 4000 series though the tractors are built in Augusta. Not sure about the lawn tractors

Actualy, the rest of the 4000 series are built by Funk Mf'g, in Coffeyville, Kansas, with Yanmar engines and Dana front axle ***'ys (if fwd). Then ASSEMBLED in Augusta.

FYI...Funk Mf'g is wholly owned by JD. This explains the replacement of the 755, 855, 955 with the 4200, 4300, 4400. I sure miss those x55's.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the engines are made by Yanmar, power train components are manufactured by Funks in Coffeyville, KS. I am in Coffeyville several times a week for work and I have wanted to tour the plant but haven't had the opportunity yet. Will put that on my "to do list" and will post more later.
