Also, even if it actually is harder on the starter (but isn't this what the starter is used for anyway).......I'd rather replace a starter motor than:

1) mess up my diesel engine by over idling
2) have the tractor lurch through the barn wall/door/etc..
3) go to the hospital because I ran myself over
4) or take one of my sons to the hospital too
5) bury the family dog

6) explain items 1-5 to my wife
