Tractor
john deere 900hc
We have a 1989 jd 900hc with the yanmar 3t80j s motor. Tore it down to rebuild it and found out we have a cracked cylinder head. Apperantly this motor is rare which i know the tractor is. Does anyone know if another john deere or yanmar cylinder head will interchange with this motor? My motors header comes out on the left side of the mtor if your looking at the fly wheel and all others i have looked at and crossed referenced exhaust is on the right any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I remember those. They are rare. Quickly glanced at the tech manual. Looks like maybe the same engine in the JD 850. Same bore and stroke, but I know the 850 exhaust is on the right(wrong) side.

According to JDparts.com an AM877960 cyl head fits a 850 & 900HC. It is listed in parts cat #s 1876 & 2016 for an 850 and PC # 2076 for a 900HC.

AM877960 HEAD, CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 850, 900HC ADD 1,100.00 USD

I see JD Parts does show they simply route the exhaust over the top of the engine to get it out on the left side of the 900HC. But you say your engine already has the exhaust out the left side?
