Just be carefull with this one. There are at least 2 different wiring diagrams. One is for tractors before SN 20000 and the other is for tractors built after. Might just be minor differences, might not.

Not a Problem, I have at Least 3 different Wiring Diagrams and I know which one is the one I need. Thanks for your concern though.

Just found this thread and am having basically the same problem as GDMoran.

I inherited a John Deere 950 from my father. It starts only if it's tow started. The wiring on this was probably done by my dad and uncle and looks pretty messed up.

I am trying to troubleshoot this without just starting trial and error replacement of parts.

Can any of the folks who provided GaryDMoran with the wiring diagrams help me out as well?

Thanks

My son and I are attempting to get o JD 950 running, and we found that there is no wire attached to the thermostart plug. Nor is there one in the vicinity of it that should go there. If any of you have a wiring diagram, and could look this up and let me know where exactly the wire for the thermostat plug comes from, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

My diagram shows that R1 andR2 on the key switch (bottom 2 terminals ?) are tied together ,and then a single wire goes from there to the thermo. The picture shows that the wire to the temp.sending unit,up on the thermostat housing, and the thermostart wire, are together in a wiring harness-just those 2 wires. So follow the temp.sending wire down, and you should find the broken wire. You shouldn't ever need to use thermostart, unless it gets down below freezing.
