Tractor
john deer 770
I have an oldder JD 770. It is a 4wd. Both front sides are shot. (drive gears, seals and bearings are finaly done.) I think the easiest and perhaps least expensive fix is to find a used front end. I would perhaps be willing to give up the 4wd aspect if need be. It is an occasional use tractor. Any suggestions?

Are you asking about a Deere 770 COMPACT tractor?

If that's the case, the Deere 670 and 790 front axles should be pretty much a bolt on...but that's simplifying matters somewhat.

Have you tore them down yet?? one of My 870 front drive housing locked up when a bearing came apart and a ball got into the gears.. I thought it was certainly going to be alot of money but turns out to be 37.00 for both front bearings. Hit up the local garage sale and got me an entire case of synthetic gear lube for 3 bucks.. so for 40 bucks my wheels are turning again
