Many of the early sixties to the early eighties tractors and maybe later (eg. 3010/3020/2030/2640) had the mid mount pto on them. Is it possible to add one on to a tractor that does not have one(2240), only the bearing housing as in the diagram (#9)?

Re: Midmount PTO
I couldn't find a mid pto parts listing for a 2240. I found the mid pto for a 2440 and some other models but no 2240.

Thanks for you help. Mine has, for a lack of a better term, what we always called a belly button, just no pto shaft. Seeing that, I had hopes. Maybe it never was an option.

Re: Midmount PTO
I was never aware the 2240 didn't offer a mid pto. I believe it would be possible to add it if you found a donor tractor. A 2020, 2030, or 2440 all should be the same. It won't work if you have independent pto or reverser though. You need to have a two stage clutch. All of these models used the same transmission and clutch housings.

Re: Midmount PTO
After some more reseach I found this in the 2240 parts catalog. Parts key #7 M4224T PLUG 1 (LESS FRONT PTO SHAFT) But this shows up when mid pto shift lever (AT29826 parts key #1,2nd photo) is inserted in the 2240 parts index search(No search results found).

No 2 stage clutch. Independent PTO.
Does this eliminate the possibility of adding mm pto?

Re: Midmount PTO
Sorry but you'll have to trade tractors to get the mid-pto option.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I'll prob keep the tractor
and go with a different fix for mm pto power (eg: hydraulic motor).
