How quiet are these cabs compared to the cabs on the 6020 or 6030 series? The only info that I can find from Nebraska Tractor Tests is for a 5093E which has a sound level of 78.9 dB as opposed to the 71dB of the 6220. Since 3dB is a 50% increase in sound level, 6dB would be a 100% increase. it sounds like the cab noise would be awful on the 5093? Is the cab on the 5093E the same as the cab on the "M" series or is it different?

If you have had a Deere 6020 or 6030 series and now have a "5000M" series what is your opinion on the cab noise? Or if you have other cab tractors how does the quietness compare?

They are about the same, the 6420 with the standard exhaust is noticeably louder than the deluxe exhaust on the 6430 Premium. Also with on the 6430 Premium it has some pilot control thing where when its cold it gets really gnarly and loud so it has to be pretty warmed up before working with a high rpm and speed. On the 5085M I think it would be quieter than 6420 but not as loud as 6430 Premium. Since the Model Year 2012 5085M has a giant muffler under the hood.

Thanks. Both of my 6220's came out before they started with the standard and premium models so on the exhaust are you referring to the corner post exhaust as the deluxe exhaust? Both of my tractors have that option. Doesn't the 5085M come with that option?

Also how is fuel economy between the models? The 5085M has an open center hydraulic system where your premium 6430 has closed center like my old 6220's. Notice any difference between your tractors.

The pilot injection system is actually supposed to make the engine run quieter not louder so that is interesting. Ford tried it on the 6.0 Powerstrokes but finally turned it off because it never worked right.

Last question, if you have loaders for the tractors what do you think about the strength of the loader mount used for the 5085m vs that used on the 6420 and 6430? We do a lot of heavy work and with just a quick look the loader mounting frame seemed a lot lighter.

Since the 6030 series is discontinued my only affordable choice is a 5085M or 5100M. The replacement for the 6030 series is the 6M which has a base list price of $95000 and that is without options. I have also liked my heavy duty German built tractors but they are getting too pricey now.

Thanks

Yes my MY2012 5085M has the deluxe corner post exhaust option. Fuel economy is about the same between the 6420 and 6430 Premium. But the 6430 Premium will have a little more. But the 5085M uses less than the 6420 and 6430 Premium.

I think for the reason the pilot injection only works when the tractors not freezing its b@lls off ;) .

I would definitely get a loader on a 6000 series if your heavy on loader work. I would love to have a loader on one of my 6000s. Its way more stronger than the 5420 with a loader.

Have you thought about looking at a used tractor? You can look on www.marketbook.ca and Used Farm & Agricultural Equipment - John Deere MachineFinder The 6M isn't probably as nice as the 6430 Premiums. The 6M's have the Interim Tier 4 stuff and its going to be a pain to fix if the system is messed up. You can look around for a good in shape 6020 or a 6030 Premium. I think the hydraulics on the premium are way more beefy than the standard. I was driving around tractors at the dealers and I tried a 6430 Premium with a 673 Loader and it went up quickly even at idle.
