JD 4600 injection pump
After tractor runs at working temp for a while it will not restart after it is shut off. Problem is the fuel shut off solenoid on the end of injection pump fills with motor oil. The guy at the pump repair shop says that the oil level in the pump should not get high enough to get in the solenoid. Anybody seen this problem?

Re: JD 4600 injection pump
Does oil in inj pump require changing similar to piston type inj pump on Ford tractors?? It's possible inj pump crankcase oil is getting contaminated with diesel fuel from one or more of the inj pump plungers that are leaking fuel

Re: JD 4600 injection pump
Oil getting to this solenoid is not a problem, it is very common. The problem is the thermistor. Solder in a new one and problem is gone. On the ten series JD did away with thermistor because of this problem and went with a plug in fuel solenoid relay in fuse box.

Re: JD 4600 injection pump
The thermistor is located on the back side of the fuse box. Unbolt the fuse box and pull it out. It is soldered into the wiring. It is orange in color and looks like a Chicklet piece of gum.
