Sounds as if traction clutch is warped or pilot bush(brg) is dry.

Thank you very much. Looks like a fairly easy job to do . I think I'll order a clutch kit. Are there any aftermarket companies or just oem

If you don't know already, your tractor is 100% Yanmar-made in Japan. You can look up parts on the John Deere site, but they don't cary much for them anymore.(jdparts.deere.com)Their price for the disc is $376.41 and the pressure plate is $292.14!!! There is a clutch kit on Ebay for $163. You can get a clutch from Yanmar Tractor Parts - Shop Online (Yanmar) also.Look down at the bottom of the model list to find John Deere.Lots of other Yanmar dealers carry parts too.

Thanks a lot. I was aware it was Japanese made so its great to go to Yanmar. Is that shaft supposed to stop when you have the clutch depressed? I think the unit will have to be split and a whole new clutch put in.

It just might be the polit bearing and clutch might be ok. I would split it first and have a look.

YES the input shaft should stop spinning shortly after clutch pedal is depressed.
