My 2240 brakes don't work and pedals are hard to push. Does anyone know what could be wrong. Thanks in advance

Thanks for this info but my tires aren't locking up just can't push peddles in.

Was there any attempt to adjust the brakes prior to when they started pushing hard?

Or anything done prior to the brake problem showing up?

Not that I am aware of I have only had tractor a year or two and live in south Ga where everything is flat so I don't ever use them. I have slowly been fixing thing up on it. I have tried brakes a time or two and you had to stand on them to get peddle down. I want to fix them and I know they should not be that hard to push. Trying to figure this problem out.

There is no adjustment that can be performed on JD 2240 brakes. One can adjust brake pedal height.

Sounds as if brake valve plungers or pedal pivot pins are stuck. Have you tried opening bleeders on the top inside of rear axle housings to see if pedals will move??

First check the pedal pivot pins
Second check the brake valve
Then
Third check the brake lines for kinks or smashed flat

brake valve stuck is my guess
