Hello everyone. I have a JD 4500 which I recently purchased and got running this year. The brakes work but sound like they make a grinding noise. How do I replace the brakes on this tractor?
Thanks

I would suggest, if interested in doing it yourself, to get the service tech manual for the 4500.

I'll look in mine tomorrow and see if I can help, if others don't chime in first.

You will be able to use the manual for other things that crop up too.

I have a 4300 and 4400 which should be similar. The brake packs are wet and housed in the left and right final drives. Does the brake linkage move freely? IMG_20170916_175947.jpg

Welcome to TBN
Since you hear a grinding noise when brakes are applied I'll suggest for you to remove hyd filter then cut filter open & look for metal fines which would indicate deteriorated brake linings.
