Is there a good way to convert a JD bucket to a quick detatch/skid steer style bucket system?

You can get ,Universal Weld-On Mounting Pads add them to your bucket ET_BU_01_edit2__08765.1391444609.1000.1250.jpg

If it is a Deere loader from that time frame then it is most likely a pin on bucket, so no carrier. Use a couple of appropriate sized channel's to pin in place of the bucket, you now have someplace to mount the ss carrier and then weld the ss plates to your bucket.

There are many quality adapters available, some still may need modification though depending on what loader you have:

Skid Steer Quick Hitch Adapter, Skid Steer Hay Spears

Attachments Using Quick Attach System

I believe that I have a 145 loader, and I think it uses the same bucket as a 146 loader does. Otherwise I'm not seeing a quick attach conversion option for the 145 (but there is one for the 146) and might have to build my own like Morrison is suggesting. It would sure be handy being able to quick attach things like a bale spear or a plow that I've had sitting around for several years!

Bucket for 145,146 & 148 loaders are identical so SSQA should be the same for each model

Ok, turns out i was wrong. It just showed up today and it has a 143 loader. Will this still work with the 145, 146, & 148 bucket?

The 143 loader had only one bucket cylinder in the middle. The 145, 146, & 148 buckets will not fit unless modified since they had 2 bucket cylinders. . THe 143 would be more difficult to switch to ssl quick tach also.

Well, thats not what i wanted to hear! Ever hear of anyone out there that does make a SSQA adapter for the 143 loader, or will it be up to me to come up with my own?

Because of the one curl cylinder, I would sell that loader and buy a different one as a first step.
