1988 John Deere 2555 4x4
I am new to this site and looking forward for discussions!
I have a John Deere 2555 and want to know if there is a way to adjust the clutch through the housing or do I have to separate the unit in half!
After using the John Deere for moving Manure for a while it is hard to get out of gear with clutch depresed
Also after it is hot unit is hard to get in gear! Need to push clutch in all the way and a little grinding to get it in.
No t much free play in the pedal! Thanks

You may have a master cylinder that needs attention.
My suggestion would be to get the service tech manual for your tractor..
Although better answers from TBN may be forthcoming.

Note the similar threads mentioned at the bottom of the page for further investigation on your part. Doubt there is a need to split the tractor.

Welcome to TBN
Is your 2555 open station or cab version?

I am guessing two ways to adjust the clutch since TxJim asked open or cab. He probably knows both. You need free play.

Open station clutch linkage is mechanical while cab model has slave/master cylinder linkage.
