Long time reader, first time poster. Allot of great info here.

I have same dilemma that most of the first time buyers that are trying to decide between 2305 and 2320. My goal is to have FEL and BH. I have only an acre of property and do my grass with LA140, this little guy is just fine for lot size I have.

In near future I am planning on doing significant home remodeling. I would like to expend my house, dig out one side of my basement to make it walkout, build couple of retaining walls, destroy asphalt driveway and build new one, rip few tree stumps, clean some dozen year old brush and remove some old fallen trees. After all this is done I would use it for yard maintenance.

The question is: should I spend extra $8000 for 2320.
I vent to our local dealer and looked at both machines, for some reason BH on 2305 looks somewhat more delicate than the one on 2320. Also ground clearance on 2305 kinda scarce. Those are two main concerns that are making me to consider 2320.
On other hand I am thinking should I go and spend extra money for machine that will not be as heavy used after all is said and done

All inputs are welcome especially from 2305 BH owners.

I don't have a BH, however, I would spend the extra for the 2320 if your buying it primarily for the BH/FEL. There are a number of differences, but the three that I would pay attention to are 1) remote hydraulic oil cooler (2305 has a fan) 2) Faster hydraulics 3) more ground clearance. BTW, it shouldn't be a $8000 diff in price. Typo??

My bad, based on John Deere website

2305 with 260 BH 12in. Bucket and 200CX Loader and Backhoe Factory Installation comes down to $16,300
2320 with 200CX FEL and 46 BH 12in. bucket is $22,000
Difference is arround $5,700

that's what I thought too...maybe $2500 diff. I also do not have the bh, so I can't say on that. since you don't want to mow with it, I'd say you'll get more work done faster with the 2320 and you can't go wrong with a bigger unit. (usually)

wow, that's a big diff. try them both out and see what you think

MiIght want to recheck the JD configurator. My interpretation of the following:

"Requires Loader Option Code 9505. Loader Pricing is not
reflected in Code 9505 List Price, see Loader Price Pages.
Loader will be invoiced separately."

is that $16,333 does not include price of FEL which is another $2,260 for 200X or $2,713 for 200CX (plus options / accessories) as required for full installation. So MSRP for the 2305 with FEL / BH is in minimum range $18,593 or $19,046.

The base tractor is $10,750 the BH is $5,110 and the FEL is $2,260 minimum so JD is not going to provide the whole package for $16,333 just because they install the BH at the factory.

You're right about the pricing tool on the Deere site. I priced a 2305 with mower deck and it priced around 17000. I later realized that did not include the FEL bucket. Went with an orange machine instead. That green paint is expensive.

lvivuk,
I have a 2305 TLB. These two tasks sound like they are above the 2305 abilities. The reach on the hoe probably is not enough to dig the walk out unless you get creative. Without pics its hard to say. You may be able to do it easier with the loader. I have never tried to rip up asphalt so i dont know for sure if it would do it, but I would think that would be rough on the little tractor regardless. If it were me, i would get a rental for a day to do these two tasks and take out some of the bigger stumps, then get the 2305 for upkeep.

Or go up to the 2520 as it has much higher hyd flow than the 2320 (again, not sure if these units are up to the task as i dont own one).

For ref, pre tax my unit was 16500, but that was before it became a factory option. I would think you could do at least $1000 better than this now.

Wow, that seems like a horrible price. I wouldnt have spent that either.

Seems like the best deal right now on a sub cut TLB is the massy GC23??. Guys on here have been ordering them from WV for 14500 i think.

2320 advantages to 2305 are:

1) oil cooler
2) 3ph position control
3) ground clearance
4) additional lift capacity due to size/load capacities of the tires.

No difference in hydro flow (+-0.1 gpm)

However, many 2320 owners feel that the 2320 is underpowered, especially in high gear.

My dealer doesn't carry the 2320 or 2520. No market for them. People here either want a SCUT (2305) or larger more affordable option (790). A 2520 is very close in price to a much larger and more capable 3000 series tractor.
