All,

I'm looking at both the JD 2320 and 2520, trying to decide if I spend more for the 2520? I have quote for both with FEL (slightly bigger bucket with 2520) and both with 62D ramp MMM.

$15999 on 2320
$17800 on 2520 Anyone have opinion on one better then other?

I've seen posts about the 3-point clearance issue with 2520, is that true with 2320?

Also anyone have any idea what differences are between Frontier 1150 tiller vs. John Deere 647 tiller. I thought Frontier would be cheaper but I got a better price for 647?

I have 12 acres. Will be using FEL for barn cleanup, lots of mowing, and tilling an acre or two.

and yes I did look at orange and blue tractors, but dealer is much farther away then JD.

I would go with the 2520 for that size property. The hydraulics are better and there is more ground clearance. Also - a few extra hp at the pto will help with tiller, brush hog etc. I love my 2520 and with the tires set wide and tightening the three point sway bars I don't have any major issues. It does rub from time to time if it is high up and the tractor is tilting to one side. The 2320 is a great tractor too - but I am coming from my own experience and research with my 2520.

Cheers,
Brad

If it was me, I would get a Kubota B2320 or B2620. You could have a 3 range tranny, a B2620, MMM, Loader AND tiller for less than the cost of the Deere 2520, MMM, loader, and no tiller. That said, since you want the Deere, get the 2520, it is a fine machine. I just couldn't stomach paying that much and only get 2 ranges and still have to pay for a tiller on top of it.

For the amount of land that you have I might even step up to a 3203. You could get a larger finishing mower for that tractor. I see a 3203 for $1599 and that includes a 300 loader.

I have a 2320 and cutting 12 acres would become a real pain with the 62D. Five acres is plenty for me to cut with it every week.

I looked at the Kubota B2320. Liked the looks of it. Price was $15,400 close to the JD 2320, but distance to dealer was about 45minutes compared to 15minutes to JD. Also looked at new holland TC, again comparable price, but farther away.

Of the 12acres I have 4 is in woods, I just mow a few trails in. another 4 acres is pasture that I mow a few times a year with deck set on highest setting on my current mower. Probably only 4 acres of lawn mowing and some of that will be converted to tillable area.

Tilling will be my newest project with about an acre in pumpkins.
loader work I currently rent a skid loader once a year. Could use one all year long if I had one.

DJfaninTN, Where did you see a 3203 for $15999 with loader?

Also, I'll add one more question to the tiller? Anyone use a king cutter from tractor supply? is that a decent tiller?

I've heard folks say they like them, but they aren't imatch compatible. I bought a Sitrex tiller with my 2305 and it was roughly $500 cheaper than the 647. and it works on the imatch. I highly recommend the imatch by the way, it really simplifies hookup.

I've got a KingKutter tiller. I've got to give it two thumbs up, probably the best tiller out there for the money, I'd put it up against a comparable JD anyday.

KK's paint guy definitely is not as skilled as JD's, but under the paint, where it counts, is every bit as good, and for a lot less $'s. Which makes them even better.

I agree 100% on the King Kutter!! I have a 60" and the 2520 handles it just fine!!

I'm using a 2320 on 12 acres. Mowing 3 every week and brush hogging another 4 acres a few times a year. The rest is woods. I love the 2320. I also have a 48" KK tiller. It is my opinion that the 2320 could handle a 60" tiller. I too am very happy with the tiller and second the poor paint job and that it is secondary to its operation. So far I have been confident that I made the right choice. I also looked at the 2305, 2520 (not too much, I liked the MMM adjustment on the others better) and almost bought a X748. Good Luck.
