Default JD 750 - Any Adivce?

Hi,

First time poster long time reader. I have been shopping for a used tractor for a while. We have 10 acres and our needs are pretty light. Some landscaping, some mowing and some snow plowing.

I have found a 4x4 JD 750 (1984 I think) pretty close to us that is being sold. It is being sold by the original owner. I talked with him last night. He told me it has less then 600 hours. He has used it to mow and plow snow. The other things he told me are the hoses probably need to be replaced but it runs great. It comes with an FEL and a rear blade. He has a 4 foot brush hog he is selling for $500 also.

Are there any known issues with this tractor I should be on the lookout for?

Thanks,
Bill

Welcome to TBN

I take it by your own reply that it has been sold?

Yeap, long story trying not to be P.O.'d. I had to go to my 6 year olds Baseball game this morning and before I could get there it was gone.

2nd deal in a month I have missed.

This one was owned by the original owner with less the 600 hours. Came with a FEL & back blade for $4500

Now, I am getting worked up thinking about again, thanks!!!!

No use getting PO'd about a deal you miss.
You can't expect a seller to hold a tractor on a person's word...

Those little Deere's seem to sell super quick if they're in decent shape and the price is right.
When I traded my old Deere 670 for my current 790, it was sold (by the dealer) within a week..for almost what I had paid for it 2 years before.

Any of the x50, x70 and x55 series Deere CUT's are robust little machines. Parts for the x70's are easy to get (basically, they're the same as the current production 790/3005 tractors except for the engines and tire sizes). As the x55 series machines were produced until '98 or '99, you shouldn't have any parts issues with them either.
The x50 series are quite a bit older. You may have trouble finding some parts, but things like filters and such shouldn't be a problem. If you give the tractor a good look over, you might find filters and other consumables will be all you ever need to buy.

Good luck on your search!
