Kubota M5040 with FEL, JD X320 Lawn Tractor
I am needing some opinions on a used 5105.
2006 5105
4WD
522 FEL
300 hours
$19,000

I have 40 ac and need a tractor to brush hog, dirt work, and move round bales. I have been looking at the 5203 and the Kubota M5040 and MX5100. The $19,000 sounds like a good price but being new two tractors I am not sure about the 300 hours. I can get a new Kubota MX5100 4wd, FEL, and 6ft brushhog for $23,000.

Any information or opinions from people who own or have owned the 5105 would be most appreciated. Being a first time buyer I want a tractor that will last me for some time...

Thanks

300 hours on the tractor is nothing IF it was maintained and not abused.
Both are nice tractors but the warranty and the financing will likely be a bunch better on a new Kubota.

thats acctually a good price on that 5105. for comparison i was looking in my local trader paper this evening and saw a 5203 mfwd, loader, 300 hours selling for $19500. i have no proof of this but i would think the 5105 is a little more heavy duty then a MX5100. would be more ideal for moving round bales anyways i would think. engine displacement is larger in the 5105 for one thing, so it's got better torque. price out a 2008 5203 if you can find any. you should be able to find a good deal on one that was never sold and the dealer wants to move.

Sounds like a fair price to me. Like others have mentioned, 300 hours is not many so long as the machine wasn't abused. I have seen rental equipment with less hours that I wouldn't have. I have a 2WD 5105 and do not have a loader as I don't have an immediate need for one due to availbility of other equipment to deal with loader related tasks. I have been very pleased. I too would look more toward the 5105 or Kubota M5040 as I believe they are larger framed machines that would be better suited to the tasks you mentioned.

That is right in the range of what they have been selling for, if it is a good clean tractor (can't be hurt with so few hours) you are getting a fair deal.

I bought my 5105 last summer with 180 hours, 522 loader, 6' New Frontier RC, 6' BB, with 10K# trailer for $24,000. Your price is fair for just the tractor.
Great machine by the way. :D
