I put my 2007 990 MFWD/300cx for sale in the classified section and did not get any hits. Is it allowed to make a splash on the forum to get the word out? It has 156 hours with regular service and waxing. I also added 3rd hydraulics on the loader, power beyond kit, and the kit for an scv to the rear. It will have new R-4's on it as I am keeping the Turfs which are the same size for my new or new used 45/4720. I am asking 16,500.00. Am I out of line? I did not think so but other opinions on this matter are welcome. Wife says we/she wants hydro. More horses for me are also welcome.

IMO, the reason you didnt get any hits yet isnt because of the price, its because its a Gear drive...the majority of people in the market for a machine of that size are looking for a hydro (the very reason yours is for sale :().

I'm sure its a nice tractor....but.....if you do some comparing with new tractors, you will find that you can buy a new 3038e with loader and a hydro tranny for about $16,000....and I dont think you need to shop too hard. That's going to have financing available and a warranty to offer the buyer. Right now there are just too many similar tractors available NEW in the price range you are talking......no??

Personally, as an "off the top of my head" response, I think you need to cut your price by a few thousand to get people interested. Maybe $13,900 OBO would be more fair ??? That initial depreciation "hit" for driving it a few hours hold true on just about everything mechanical (cars, boats and tractors) IMO.

Of course.....I could be wrong. :D

I agree with Froggy. I see tractors around like yours with many implements for the same price your asking. You have a very nice clean tractor, but the fact that you can get a new hydro machine for less than your asking is hurting you.

I think that the 3038 is going to take down the resale value of my 3720. People will always say they can get the same tractor with the same HP for 15K.... They know and so do I that the 3x20 series is more luxurious, but ..... It will become a bargaining piece.

For the right person, you have a great tractor. You just have to find them. Post it locally.

Hmmmm....just looked down below at a thread on a 990 price.....and some guys are discussing a 990 with a loader for 19 K from a dealer in TX......and thinking its a good deal .......like I said....what do I know? :D

Just built one on the JD website. 4005 with 300CX loader, R4 tires, and power beyond came to $23,351.00.

So your asking price of $16,500 for a 990 & 300CX loader with only 156 hours and no more than 24 months on it sounds like a great deal.

Did you try posting it on Craig's list in the farm+garden section, or more than once in the paper? Have some place along a highway you can park it with a for sale sign on it? List it as $16,500 or make reasonable offer. I would not go down just yet. If some one makes a lower offer if will give you room to negotiate the price and it might not be much lower than what you are asking.

I've had it on craiglist in Buffalo for about only 10 days. I guess patience is a virtue. I thought I would have more calls than 1.

I think your price is competitive. The 300CX loader is a more capable loader than the 305 FEL and it's all set up for a grapple with the joystick mounted toggle!

Although the 990 is a gear tractor - it also has 3 ranges. Which - IMO - is superior to the 2 range hydro available on the 3038.

As well, you went to the trouble is set the 990 up for the 8B backhoe and the available 3rd rear mount SCV.

I seem to recall that the 3038 does NOT have the backhoe option, either.

Brand new R4's on rims... Stick to your guns - I think your price is quite reasonable.
