I have a Deere dealer about 5 miles from my house that has a 08, 2305 with a 200CX loader and 260 Backhoe, Hydro Trans, 4WD, R4 Tires, and has 2 Hours on it for $16,500.

Is this a fair price?

Are there any problems with the 2305 model?

He also has a front mount snow blower that will fit the 2305 the guy I talked to said he did not know what they are asking for it, about how much should it be? It is new never used just like the tractor they took the tractor to local fairs last year as a display.

Seems like a good price for a new 2305 TLB. Can't comment on the snow blower.

Back in '78 my dad bought a new Ford with auto, air and radio for $4995.

The 2305 is approx $1,000 or more above the bx price. Try them both you will notice that the 2305 will operate the hyd functions at an idle the bx has a tendency to not, you have to run the throttle up a bit. Beyond that very similar units in terms of lift capacity etc. I may be wrong on second point here but I believe you have to get the bx with the backhoe you can not buy the tractor and add the backhoe later. Deere's can be field installed if wanting to add it later.

Go to the John Deere site and "build" a 2305 with those options. When you are done, you will fly over to that dealer with your checkbook.... 2 hours on it. It's a virgin!! Just deal for some kind of warranty. I don't remember if the factory warranty from JD starts when the dealer takes stock or when it goes "in-service".

In the context of negotiating on a 2305 with 150 hours, I got a quote from a dealer, yesterday, on a new 2305 TLB (FEL/BH, no mower). List is $19,750 until August 3 (there's apparently a $500 factory dealer incentive until).

The dealer said he'd sell me the 150 hr. unit for $15,500 with 60" deck, or $14,700 with no deck.

There was a 2008 2305 TLB, 10 hrs., no mower, on eBay earlier this week; the seller told me he'd take $13,000. It's gone this morning so I guess he got his price (I probably should have taken it!).

Summary? $16.5K is a "fair" price from a dealer. From time-to-time you can probably do significantly better, if you look diligently.

If you're not in a hurry, you should also consider buying out of state and having a unit shipped -- unless you're tax-exempt, New York's 8-9% sales tax is a significant bite when you're spending this kind of money.
