So I'm helping my parents sell their John Deere 4300 as they are looking to sell their property and move south away from the cold. You will have to forgive my ignorance as I'm not to familiar with them.
The tractor has been used for light/moderate farm work (spreading gravel/dirt, digging ditch lines, moving shavings, moving dirt, ext.) I have searched around on the tractors and I have not really found much as to how much they should sell it for. I have found a few 4300s going for around 15k..
Any assistance with the appraisal would be appreciated!

Maintenance records and factory manuals in hand
I would look at comps on Machinefinder (Deeres' used website) and Tractorhouse to get an idea of the value.
If it were me, I would clean it up good and deal with the cosmetics and replace the seats first. As is it makes a somewhat poor impression to the first time tractor buyer and that is who is likely to buy this.
It looks like it does not have the reinforcement subplate for a 4300 with
the backhoe. Check the rear mounting brackets (subframe) to see if
they have damaged the fragile aluminum rear axle castings. For
a 4300 with FEL and hoe, $15K is a good price for a unit in good shape.
That FEL bkt looks pretty sad.
