Bewildered by MMM choices

7-iron, drive over, neither. For example, 60D, 62B and 62C. I think those are the right numbers.

Would someone please briefly summarize the main differences? I don't mind rolling a deck from under a tractor, but I'm not interested in dragging one sideways with no help from wheels.

The mower will be used 90% of the time, so I could pick the tractor to suit the mower - say between 2305, 2320, and 3032e - if one deck is a standout.

I'll take a shot at it--may not be 100% accurate. The 7Iron decks are made from thicker steel and may have higher blade tip speeds. The drive over decks (usually the width with a D at the end) are pretty nice--especially if you don't have a lot of room for storage--you can drop the deck and leave it in place while you go off and connect another/different implement. I don't know the difference between the B and C decks--maybe based on what machine they go on. The non drive over decks are not hard to maneuver around--just rotate the wheels 90 degrees before you drop the deck and roll it out--only easy if you have a relatively flat surface to work on--it's a pain in the lawn!

The 2320 uses the 62d/54d 'drive over' mmm... the 2305 uses the 62c/54c (same as the D but NOT drive over) I am not sure on the others sorry..

Do they each have 4 caster wheels so you can roll it out from under the tractor? Besides the drive-off models, which ones are easiest to get installed and then get pulled back out?

Does each of them have a mulch kit available? Is one model a better mulching deck than another? I'm into mulching.

I can only speak to experience with 72" 7-Iron. If you can park on a hard flat surface, then getting MMM out from / back under tractor is probably the easiest part, especially if FEL used to raise front wheels of tractor. Just turn the wheels sideways and pull / push. Drive over would solve this and might be worth it if parking is on grass / gravel etc.

I find the hardest part is attaching / removing drive from the PTO. Awkward angle and can only get one arm in there (for me anyway). Also a couple of pins at rear of MMM that are awkward to insert / remove.

Depending on the $$$ value you place on convenience take a look at the Auto Connect MMM - seems to solve most of the problems, except how to move it around when disconnected

Not sure if the 7 iron and the C model decks do but the D series allow you to lift them on the 3pt hitch to carry them around.. very slick idea with the weight of these decks. I am very impressed with the blade quality as well, they are much tougher and hold an edge better than the blades on my 54" that was on the old X500. As far as mulching I am not sure but you can get Gator blades which I hear are very good at mulching. Even the drive over deck you need to make sure you have a fairly falt area as you can bind the pins and also make it a bear to reinstall if not.

Thanks for the feedback, folks! I ended up with a 62D mounted on a 2320, and the info here helped me decide.

You wont be disappointed.. You need to buy/make a set of storage wheels to get that beast off the floor and up on its end (assuming you will be taking it off in the winter).. the first yr I pretty much kept bruises on my shins from running into the deck..

I made a set of storage wheels for about $70 (you can buy a set online as well) that are the cats meow for storage

I am using the gator blades and the clipping are much smaller than the standard blades.. The mulching kit is quite expensive for a piece of plastic and some blades..
