What various 45hp-mid 50hp range 4wd John Deere utility tractors were produced in the late 90's & early 2000's? Were there models with less desirable features or options to avoid? Any worth trying to find? Any opinions appreciated.

5200, 5210, 5220, 5105. all are in the 45-50hp range. same 2.9 Powertech engine in all of them, and all came with the same 9x3 syncshuttle transmission except the 5105 that had an 8x4(i could be wrong on this so someone correct me if i am about transmission choices). really all of the tractors i mentioned were fine tractors. can't really say too much about them but i can tell you the 5200, 5300, 5400, 5500 semed to have paint chipping issues on them. could be age showing up on the ones ive seen.

RollingsFarms;
I think you're on the money with the tranny for the 5105. The 5205 had the same tranny but 5hp more @ pto.

Some discussion that the tranny was not spaced as well as the 9x3 and when baling hay, etc. it was difficult to find a gear that matched with necessary ground speed and rpm's.
