Tractor
JD 4520 w/ cab and FEL
If my auction tractor doesn't work out am considering a new 5055E 4WD FEL tractor. I'm not set on the 5055E but the dealer told me it was the cheapest new 5000 series JD with 4WD which is what I want.

Any recommendations on a buying price? Wasn't sure if there was any wiggle room in price for a new tractor like with a car. I tried punching in the specs on deere.com but wasn't able to get the price with a FEL on it.

Also any recommendations on bushog and rottary tiller brand and width? Should I get 6 ft implements and what brand do you rec'd or should I go used?

Here are some prices I got, how are they?...

JD 5055E with 4WD: $21,800
JD 553 FEL: $5,700
JD 673 tiller: $3,200
JD MX6 Lift-type rotary cutter: $2,450

Total=$33,150

I was rec'd by a friend to get a 4 in 1 loader, the one that opens to pick up stuff...should I get one of these in lieu of the 553 loader.

Last question I had is whether it would make a big difference to go with the JD 5065E. It was priced at $23,500 ($1,700 more than the 5055E) but has 53 hp PTO instead of the 45 hp PTO for the 5055E.

Boy, in the beginning you didn't want to spend a ton of money. Now, you're going to spend a ton of money.!!

...no one WANTs to spend a ton of money, at least I never have;)

After looking at used tractors of equal proportions with low hours, for a little bit more I can get something new, if taken care of, hopefully will last me a long time. That's my reasoning anyway.

I would lean twoards the higher hp unit if you are looking at some serious tiller work and want to cover your tire tracks on both sides. But if you tilling work is gardening, occasional tilling, etc and not breaking up a lot of hardpan soil the 45hp version would be fine. Either one would probably do both but might be Nicer to have the extra oomph!

I think your friend means get a 4 in 1 bucket instead of the JD bucket that comes with the loader. You can order the loader without a bucket. I would get a grapple instead of a 4 in 1 bucket.

If you have any plans for a third loader function. Option the tractor with the third function mid valve and get the third function lines with the loader. At the very least, get the third funtion lines for the loader and hose it back to a rear SCV.

check out new holland's workmaster 55 tractor. it is 55 hp, 4 cylinder turbo charged motor, comes with one rear hydraulic remote, 4x4 or 2x4. a 4x4 will cost you $20,500, and the fully qucik attacht FEL is $5500. the tractor has a 8x2, true shuttle shift transmission, and all synchronized gears. it is a nice ride and NH has 0% APR for 60 months or .9% for 72!!! $0 down WAC
