Tractor
John Deere 5105M
I took delivery of my 2010 5105M with 563 SL Loader last Thursday. Haven't yet had a chance to put many hours on it, but that will change this weekend.

My local dealer had a 5105M on the lot, but it was lacking a FEL and it had bias-ply tires. Took about eight weeks for the loader and radial tires to come in and switch out. I added several dealer options including fenders and buddy seat. Finished installing the radio and horn last night. Just waiting on the front fenders to come in. It has the 32F/16R PowerReverser Plus transmission with 2-front and 2-rear remotes.

This tractor replaces a Ford 7000 and compliments a John Deere 2755. My dad and I have a cow/calf operation and put up about 500 round bales a year. Both tractors are mainly used to feed hay in the winter months and put up hay in the summer. We run two disk mowers and a 535 baler. We also mow the pastures at least once a year.

This forum provided me with a lot of great information when choosing which model and options. I did look at the New Holland T5060 and the Kubota M9540 when shopping as well as a low-hour JD 6330, which was a larger frame/body than I wanted. In the end, it was the 5105M I kept coming back to. Had everything I was looking for and a great local dealer.

Very nice tractor and should work out well for you.

Bet that tractor will be just the ticket for haying this winter, really like your choice of tires.

Now that you have the tractor please check back and keep us informed about it. That is how we all gather information on the new models.

Awesome. Congrats on the new tractor. I am waiting for my 5083E (much smaller than your tractor) to be delivered. I'm sure it'll be at least a month. I went with the 563 NSL as well.
Those M series tractors sure look nice:thumbsup:!

Congratulations! I think it's an excellent choice. I'd like to have one to keep my TN75 company :)

Very Nice! I like your choice of loaders too.
How do the front fenders you have coming mount? to the loader frame or the axle knuckles?

Loader frame.

Congrats. Should be a great tractor. I'm very satisfied with my new M series. It's the most comfortable and easy-to-operate tractor that I've ever used. I think the cab is the best on the market. I also considered the other two tractors that you mentioned. My pick was the JD, and the price was close enough not to be a factor.

on edit:
BTW, you're gonna love the 540/540E PTO. My 85 will pull a 8' hay mower (JD 265/Kuhn GMD600) easily in the economy mode. In most cases, it will also handle a 10' bush-hog in 540E.

BogFoot62, thanks for the information. We run a JD 260 and 275 disk mowers. We also have a 10 and 13 foot rotary mowers. I also intend to run the E-PTO in the spring spreading fertilizer and spraying pastures/weeds with a 3-pt sprayer.

I put about five hours on it yesterday moving round bales. I was very happy with the 563 SL-Loader.

One more bit of information that you might be interested in. The last fuel-up took just over 20 gallons. I had 13 hours on that tank, all of it running the PTO, mostly bush-hogging. Since yours is a 105 hp, it will probably burn a little more fuel, but still be much more efficient than the 7000 and probably the other JD as well.
BTW, I have 40-something hours on mine.
