Hello everyone. My first post here. Have 160 acres that we've been renting out. It's been dryland farmed although there is an older well. I've been thinking about weekend farming it myself. I do have a lot of time other than weekends to tend to it. So I started looking into new tractors. The 5105M and the 6140D is what I keep looking at. 100 hp/32F speeds vs 140 hp/9F speeds. I've also looked at the 6430P but didn't want to spend that much $. Anyone have any advice? I figure everytime i have to make a pass over it, it will take between 24 and 36 hours in the seat? Does that sound about right?

By the way it is 32 speed but its really 16 speeds with high low that has a push button to be high / low.

I recently purchased a 5105M after looking at a 6330 and 6115D. I am using the tractor strictly for baling and feeding hay, no ground engagement. From my research on this forum as well as discussions with the salesmen, the 5-series was sufficient for hay and cattle use but possibly a bit small/under weight for working ground. The 6-series gives you added weight which is important for traction. I do like the 32F/16R transmission, but the 24-speed shuttle shift option in the 6430P would be the cats' meow.

I'd go with the 6 series, because it weighs more
