But I've read on this forum that people think the X320's tranny isn't very robust either. Better than the X300's tranny, but not much better.

Well if you want to get a heavy duty transmission check out the X728.

Thanks for the data. Is the K62 the tranny that comes in the LX188? I have an appointment to see a 1992 LX188 this Saturday. Owner says it's in solid condition except for a broken hood hinge and cracked seat.

He's asking $1100. Is that a fair price?

I see that a replacement lower hood section is approximately $200, and another $100 or so for a new seat. So I would be putting approximately $300 in parts into it (unless there's a way to repair the hood hinge; I also see that some people buy those "slip covers" for their JD seats; I wonder if that would be cheap way to fix the seat problem).

Well, I'm planning to buy this GT245 on Saturday (seller is giving me first dibs):

*SALE PENDING* John Deere GT245 Tractor with Implements

$2100 for the tractor (500 hours), cart, and spreader. This price looks approximately $1000 below most prices I see. The original owner is selling it, and you'll see in his write-up that he was meticulous about maintenance.

Well for anyone looking to buy a X300 you might want to think again. Ours is dead. Its the K46 tranny and I have yet to open it but JD said they would replace it....for a price of course. I bought the X300 because it was not a "box" store mower.
