John Deere 2720
Still shopping trying to decide.
JD dealer is really pushing 2320 or 2520 due to $1000 facotry incentive.

Just recieved price quote for:
2320 R4 tires, 200CX with 61" bucket, 54" front mount snowblower with quick hitch.
$18,291.24 + tax

Also quoted:
2520 R4 tires, 200CX with 61" bucket, 54" front mount snowblower with quick hitch.
$20475.91 + tax

Salesman says only difference between tractor is the larger hydrulic pump,
2 hp and 205 lbs

I have read other differences online trying to figure out what the real deal here is.

How are these prices?
Which tracotr 2520 or 2320???

"Which tracotr 2520 or 2320???"

Neither for me. I'd get a 2720 if I was doing it again. More ponies on the PTO is a good thing.

2520 has 10 more ft lbs of torque, direct injection, direct drive to the tranaxle no ujoints, 40 amp alternator, larger tires, dual hyr pumps, more lift capcaty both end if I remember correctly. Just more machine for the money and better machine IMO..

I started out looking at the 2320 and ended up with the 2520. I am glad I went 2520, but they are both nice machines. The 2520 was a little more than I wanted to spend originally... so the 2720 was just not an option for me, but if I had the budget, I would have gone 2720.

I also started looking at the 2320 and ended up with the 2520. As some of the already posted comments pointed out, there are many small differences when comparing the specs of these two machines. The reality is, they are two completely different tractors that share virtually no components of the tractor itself between them. Different engines, different transmissions, different frames. While the 2520 and 2720 are nearly the same, and the engine is the only major difference, not so when comparing with the 2320.

Don't get me wrong, the 2320 is a fine machine that serves many owners well. It's more to my point that the JD sales literature seems to make them seem more similar than they really are. The specs don't show how much of a difference there really is, but the parts manuals do.

Depending on what you plan to do with your tractor you could be very happy with either one. For me, the extra hydraulic capacity, size, and weight of the 2520 won me over for use with the 200CX FEL. I have enjoyed my 2520, and I think I made the right choice for my needs.

When I looked for a tractor I looked at the 2000 and 3000 series. Personally if I felt I needed more then the 2320, especially in hydraulics & FEL capacity, I would jump to a 3320/300CX.

I, like many others have done, originally started looking at the 2320. I ended up with a 2520. Even now, I think the 2320 would most likely have been enough for what I intend to do.

Probably the thing that pushed me over the edge to the 2520 was that I was trading in an older Yanmar CUT that had a 27hp engine. I didn't like the idea of going down in HP for it's replacement.

Another part of the reasoning was that "why did the 2305, a much smaller tractor, have the same engine as the 2320"? It struck me funny that 2 substantially different units would share the same engine. I sort of started getting a little "gun shy" about the 2320 maybe being a little underpowered considering it's size, but then again, maybe the 2305 has more engine than it needs.

From what I have read here, 2320 owners seem to be more than happy with their tractors, and probably I would have been as well. I think it all comes down to what you intend to do with it. There is no end to the "I need more power" argument, but the question is "do you really need more power" or do you just think you do, or for that matter just want more, because that's what "real men want, more power", need it or not. Sort of a "Tim the Tool Man" complex.

I think a good rule of thumb is, when you are looking for a tractor, always buy the one that is a step up from the original one you started looking at. That should be enough to stop you from thinking later that "I shoulda' bought the XXXX model" when I had the chance.

Good luck with your deliberations.....I really don't think you can go wrong with either model, but I know, it's tough to convince yourself that you are making the right choice.

I also am shopping, But when I went to dealer they had a 2320 and a 2520 side by side, the 2320 was about 6 inches taller at the hood and headlights, It made the 2520 look smaller. the tires were bigger on rear of 2520. but in the front the 2320 looked like a bigger tractor.

How much more can the 2520 lift in the loader since it has stronger hydraulics? is it double ? 1600? more loader pounds since the hydraulic capicity is more ?

And exacly how much faster is the loader hydraulics on the 2520 ?, will it save me hours on unloading a dump truck of 19 tons of clean gravel at a time. The dealer said it was only 1 second faster on cycle times on the 2520 vs the 2320, and only 1 second faster on the 2520 on rollback cycle times on loader?????

I'm not sure what he means only 1 second faster per cycle. he also said the 2520 with the stronger hydraulic would not lift any more than the 2320 in the loader. I questioned him on that and he pointed it out in the john deere brocure on attachments, so now i am more confused. How come the 2520 can't lift any more in the loader than the 2320 if if has stronger hydraulics?

1 second faster per cycle means if the 2320 can go from ground to full lift in 6 seconds the 2520 will do it in 5, 1 second faster.

If the only difference between the same loader on two tractors is the system psi, the greater psi will lift more. Unless the loader valve has a built in relief valve and both are set to the same psi. Is it possible the loader would out lift the weight of the machine and is too big, so a relief valve was built into the loader valve? What are the system psi for each tractor?
