Comparison Replacing LT with a GT...which one??

I currently own a LX279, 48" deck, liquid cooled, lawn tractor in excellent condition. I have a few options.

Trade LX 279 in to JD dealer for $1500 on a:

425 with 550 hours (has plastic cam gear), 60" deck, $4200...or...

445 with 660 hours, All Wheel Steer, 54" deck for $5100 (not sure if it has the plastic cam gear, was built in November 1998)...or...

455 with 540 hours, All Wheel Steer, 54" deck, $5700

I was hoping to get $2000 for my LX279...

Any thoughts???

They (JD) quit making the GT235,a while back agurs has been one great garden tractor(18 hp Kawasaki) air cooled.
When I bought it new in 2004 it was $5200 even OTD with a plastic trailer that they threw in.

There is always room to negotiate in any deal, whether it is on how much the dealer is willing to give you for trade in, how much they can take off the asking price of used equipment, or they could at least offer you a free maintenance on the machine you decide to purchase.

I also agree that $1500 trade in for a good condition LX279 sounds a bit low. Out of the mowers you listed, the 455 would be my choice hands down. Very well built, powerful, easy on fuel, and keeps its value if you ever decided to trade it in.

Thanks for the reply Cooper. I really like the 455. It runs well and the hours for that tractor are low.
