Default 3320 cab air ride seat

I have a John deere 3320 cab tractor with the standard seat and am considering upgrading to a air ride seat. Would you recommend spending the extra cash for the air ride. If I purchase the air ride seat, about how much is it from John Deere and also is there a "knock off" from another company that will work, who is the knockoff company and how much is it? Also is all the electric and air hose and everything needed already plumbed in to the cab or will all that have to be purchased also? Can I install it myself?

air seat owners will tell you to upgrade. Air is nice and there is a big difference between the air and and the spring suspension. I have the standard spring seat in my cab 3520 but have spend 1000's of hours in air seats driving dump trucks and in poor terrain (jobsites). I can honestly say, my spring seat is just fine with it adjusted properly where when i sit in the seat, it floats down half way and provides very good dampening. Enough so where i would never pay the 700 bucks for the dealer to install the air seat at this point. overall pretty happy wwith the standard seat personally. Hope this helps. Oh, almost forgot. id imagine you can bolt any aftermarket air seat in but its gonna cost close to the same as a john deere seat id imagine

    Hiya,

If your tall or have long legs, check out the air ride seat. The spring seat works well however to get a good ride out of it you have to adjust it so it sinks a few inches so it's "On the springs". If your tall, you will then feel like your sitting in a beanbag chair with your knees around your ears. The air ride seat gives a great ride at the top of it's travel so your feet are properly positioned for the pedals.

    My 2 cents,

I like the air seat in my fathers 4720 but I can't tell too much difference from my spring seat on the 4310. I'm 6' and it's fine for me but for a taller man the air I think gos a bit higher.

    Welcome to TBN D-man47.

4shorts just put in an aftermarket air-ride seat in his Kubota Grand L cabbed tractor. Do a search for his article, and you will learn tons of stuff to help you with your decision.

Simple answer.... No. Unless you plan on traveling in high gear (C) at full speed around a super bumpy area. Most of what we're doing on tractors is slow for precision. I've found that if I'm getting jerked around to much in the standard seat that I'm probably going to fast that it isn't safe any longer.

Thanks for the info. I am 6' 7" tall and weigh 270. I guess that is why I am having trouble with the standard seat. Looks like I need to purchase the air ride.

I would go for the air seat. I just got done disking for 8 hours today in the 7240 and I could go for another 8 ( That's at 6.5 mph with a 28' disk, and 30' packer). Once you try an air seat you won't want anything else and it really helps for bigger people.

Last weekend I plowed with my 4310 (spring seat) for two hours and that's all I could take.

yeah, i could see that being a problem but your not going to have any cushioning with the seat all the way to the top. your gonna have to have it pumped all the way up and it will slam at the top most point when you hit a bump. Even with the air seat, you need to adjust so it doesnt top out and bang on the stops up high. So if you have it pumped all the way up for maxium height, you have gotten rid of any shock absorbing and will be very stiff and bottoming out up top. Im 6'5" 240 and i have the spring seat set so where i sit in it, it goes down half way so i have full shock absorbing with no botooming out and no slamming up top. I hope this makes sense cause i tried to explain best as possible. Like i said, i have alot of experience in both seats. And for maximum comfort, they both have to be adjusted so they are not at the highest point

edit: not trying to steer you in either direction. just trying to give you food for thought. I would take an air seat anyday. I thought i was getting one with my tractor. turns out i didnt get one but i wont buy one now though becuase the spring seat works just as good when adjusted properly in my experience

I'm 6', 210 lbs and think the stock seat is excellent. IMO you should put the money else where. You can always add the air-seat later!
