Tractor
John Deere 4520
This is my first post and hopefully, my first purchase of a large tractor. I will own around 50+ acres when my purchase goes thru the end of this month. I live in Indy but my property is in Brown County. The tractor involved in the sale of the property is a John Deere 4520. I'm not sure what year it is but I found some paper work in it that said 2004. The owner bought it in Bloomington he thinks 2005. I have enclosed pixs of the tractor. It has 93 hours on it and is in great shape from what I can tell. It comes with a 400x loader, a RCR16 series rotary cutter from Land Pride, Land Pride RB16 series rear snow blade, which looks like it has never been used and a Land Pride BB25 series box scraper, 25-55 hp. If you know where to find the serial number on the tractor, which will tell me the year, that would be helpful. From the pixs, can you tell me the value of it and accessories?

Thanks so much and look forward to driving this baby.

There is a plate on the right hand side frame, close to the front axle. The serial nimber is listed on the sheet in one of your pics also. It should be worth 20K or more with those low hours. It will be a great tractor. I have a 4720.

threenotch,

arelen4720 is right. Your "Stocker Tractor Build Tag" has the information on it that you are looking for: the build date looks to be August 11, 2004 and the tractor's serial number is LV4520P152342. As arlen4720 stated, the tractor's serial number plate is on the right hand side of the tractor's frame near the front wheels. You can quickly verify the serial number by looking at that plate. Based on the pictures and not knowing how the tractor sounds, if there are any leaks, and how well the tractor operates, I would agree that the tractor w/loader could be worth about $18.5k-$20k+ (it has a Power Reverser trans. which is a cheaper option trans. than an e-Hydro trans.) and the implements, without knowing the size of all the implements (most likely they are 72" or better) and the condition of the rotary cutter, could be worth $3,500+.

Thanks all for the great help. I found out who the dealer was and contacted them. They sold it to my guy Aug of 2005 and it is in fact a 2004. They estimated the value at $18,000 - $20,000 also, so you guys were right on. They thought it was probably sold in the $30,000 range new. There are no leaks that I can see and I'm going to fire it up this week. My seller is including the tractor and implements and an 05 Yamaha 660 Rhino with 700 miles on it all for an additional $20,000 on top of the land cost. I feel it's a pretty good deal.

That's the same as my tractor but with five more horses. The 4x20 series are beasts for their size. I love my 4320 and don't regret buying it ever. And the PowerReverser is a great tranny on acreage. The grunt is there and it's no slouch at loader work. The only downside is for surgery (when compared to hydro) but other than that I'd take the Reverser any day over the Hydro.

They are indeed, it is hard to grasp how such powerful engines can be made to fit under that short hood.

That's a beauty for almost nine years old. Looks brand new. I would want the PowrReverser trans over ehydro too, but I am "old school" :D
