    John Deere 3038E & 1025R FILB

Default Re: 2013 1025R FILB coming home

George, I bought it from the local John Deere dealer - Quality Equipment of Roxboro. We had dealt with them in the past & had no reservations on how we would be treated.

    I finally got some pics...

The machine with 260 backhoe Bro-Tek additions, the thumb & ripper.

    with the thumb stored

with the thumb in working position

The ripper is mounted because I was removing small stumps/saplings. It is much quicker & makes less mess than using the 12" bucket. The thumb really helps in lifting/holding logs for cutting (much easier on the back than working on the ground and better for the chain). We also found it a back saver in removing & loading the 12"+ stump from a recent blow down after cutting up the rest.

Thanks Nick, I'm near Raleigh, and the local dealer isn't as pricing friendly. Did Roxboro still have any 1026r's on the lot? I was curious if any of the model roll out problems were addressed in the 1025r? Great looking machine, I can't wait to get mine, stump work is on the top of my list. Thanks for the pics, George.

They have another 1025r FILB at the Roxboro store, not sure if any 1026r are around.

The complaint about the H120 bucket drooping while the operator first starts applying a slight curl input does not appear to be a current issue - at least I haven't seen it occur, yet, on my 1025r. The joystick does not let you easily combine inputs like curl or dump while raising or lowering. You can do it slowly with partial inputs, but full "corner" travel will give you one function or the other.

Backhoe controls are a definitely touchy on the boom side. You really have to feather it to get gentle movement for rotation or extend/retract. Dipper & bucket are not as touchy. There is a tendency for boom & outriggers to leak down over time. You need to be sure to put the pin in to keep the boom up during storage or travel. I use a short tie down strap between the outriggers while not in use so they don't leak down & get in the way.

Your'e right, across the country, none of the complaints seem to be coming from owners of the new model. Posts from 1026 owners indicate that some being told that JD is still working on a solution, others are being told it's not a warranty item. Some dealers don't acknowledge that there even is a problem, others just fix it. Obviously, it makes a big difference which JD you deal with. Doesn't instill a lot of faith in corporate, but it's good to know that many dealers are still stepping up for their customers. I guess it's not your dads Deere anymore.... Who's your guy in Roxboro? I might go pay him a visit, thanks again, George.

Work them on price. I got a similar price as Nick from my local dealer. They really wanted to match the cost of the BX25D I was comparing it too. You should be able to get it for around 19K (1025r FILB that is)

Congratulations. Glad you could justify the backhoe. Good price. I just got my 1025 with loader and new (for $200, with trade-in and incentives) bush hog yesterday. Not so sure about the side grip of the R4 tires vs. R3s I had on the 4010, but everything else is better, especially the seat. Holes and rises no longer give such a jar.

I was qouted 20500 for a 1025e with 53 bucket and 260 backhoe. Is this correct that you got the same machine for 19000 and the 60 month no interest financing?

$19,150 before tax, documentation, etc. Part of the deal was $750 off for two implements with them using the H120 FEL & 260 BH (w/12" bucket) for that even though they were factory installed (i.e. FILB). Financing for 60 mo @ 0% required 10% down...

Update regarding droop while feathering curl. I did experience that happen today. RPM's were at about 2500 & this was the bucket load:

If I feathered the curl function it would droop (slowly). If I pushed through to a farther stick position, the curl would happen normally
