Hey guys,

Could someone fill me in on these tractors? In particular the models 650 through the 850.

I know of the 650, 750, 790, and 850. Are there any more?

My main question is: which of these are available with power steering and 4WD.

Thanks

LawnButcher:

I think you could add the 990 to the list also comes in 4 wheel drive and power steering.

There are a couple of us here that own the 790 so if you have any questions abut it I'm sure we can get or give you the answer. I know we have a couple of 990 owners here and I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a owner here for each model you listed.

790 can be had with 4 wheel drive and power steering.

As you probably know these models (50 series) were from the 80s. The only 2 you missed were the 950 and 1050. The 1050 is a turbo 950 I believe. The 790 is from a different line than the 50 series & based off the old 70 series which were from the 90s. The 790 and 990 came out in 2000. You would be happy with any model you choose. All are built to last.

Good answer from Nick.

In the beginning the 850 was the only model that did not offer 4wd. But it had it by the time they ended production. I know that a power steering kit was available for the 650 and 750.

Here is a pic of my old 650.

I can supply specs on the 50 series if needed.

How many horsepower does the 1050 have. Makes me think if it was a turbo it would have more power than a 1070 or 990. Just curious.

"...based off the old 70 series which were from the 90s. The 790 and 990 came out in 2000"

I have a 670. For a smaller (actually, same size as the 790...smaller engine) tractor, they're extremely robust.
I heartedly recomend the 970, 770 or 790 series machines. If you can go with a gear machine, of course.

Roy, I know the 790 and 990 are Yanmar built tractors so I assume the 770, 670 and 970 are as well, right? Is that the entire Yanmar built line? What about the 50/55 series? Are they the predecessors to the current 4xxx series made in Georgia?

My 650 had a Yanmar engine. Does that mean the tractor was built by Yanmar?
