find year model using tractor serial number

looking at some other equipment, had a quick question.

how do you find the year model on john deere tractors using the serial number. same question for loaders, mowers and other equipment. Thanks.

A JD dealer should be able to help you out. The serial number will give you the year of manufacturer not the year sold and put into use. For instance, a 2001 tractor might sit on a dealers lot and not be sold until 2002 or even 2003. Unlikely, but it could happen.
