I have a John Deere 790... I wanted to add a front end loader... I called for a price on a 419 Loader and the dealer told me that was the old model... he said the new model 300 front end loader was much easier to remove...ect. Can anyone verify this? Any input? Thanks, Terry.

The 300 loader definitely has a LOT more lift capacity than the 419. Heck, even the little 210 loader that goes on the 2210 has more lift capacity than the 419 (at different heights, of course). Someone posted on here a few weeks ago and gave a site that had some good specs and diagrams of the 300, 300X, and 300CX loaders. Hopefully they'll chime in again. But I'd definitely go with the 300 over the 419. Just make sure your dealer isn't wringing extra $$$ from you. I don't think list on that loader is a whole lot more.

"even the little 210 loader that goes on the 2210 has more lift capacity than the 419 (at different heights, of course)"

Of course, that's a rather poor comparison. One cannot use some of the specs to make a point...if you're going to compare, use all the specs.

The 419 was castigated quite a bit when it replaced the 70 loader due to "less capacity at maximum height". Of course, the 419 rises almost a foot higher then the 70 loader at around 85" give or take 3". At comparable heights and break out, the 419 has higher capacities.

If the 300 series loader is easier to remove and install, it's got to be almost automatic. The 419 is extremely easy to drop off and re-install.

All in all, the 790's capacities are lower then some of the competition. It is a really old design, but for the great majority of folks who buy it, it'll have all the power one will need for a long time.

I haven't seen the specs on the 300 loader. They are not listed on the Deere web site. Any idea of the max capacity at max height (what is the max lift height?)?. How about the breakout force?

I found these specs for the 300 loader on Deere's configurator:

Specifications Per ASAE 301.3
Measured @ Pivot Pin:
Lift Capacity 741 Lbs.
(336 kg)
Lift Height 88.6 In.
(2251 mm)
Boom Breakout 1729 Lbf.
(7690 N)
Dump Angle - 40.5 Degrees
Rollback Angle - 24.3 Degrees
Quik-Tatch Loader
Quik-Tatch Carrier
Mounting Frame
Hood Guard
Bucket Level Indicator
61 In. (1550 mm) Materials Bucket

Still kind of light if you ask me

"Lift Capacity 741 Lbs."

That is a good bit more then the 419 which also goes to 88", if my memory serves me.

For the residential or smaller farm owner, almost 750 lbs ought to be quite adequate.

Heaviest thing I ever lifted with my loader was an old boiler...must of weighed well over 600 lbs, considering the thickness of the steel. It really taxed my old 670.
