I've finally settled on a JD 4520. I just want to know if I should counter offer on the initial price from from my dealer.

4520 w/ eHydro, industrial tires, dual mid & single rear hydraulics
400CX loader with hood guard and HD 73" bucket
MX6 mower

$32500 price w/o tax

Thanks

I've got a quote on a 4520 w/ loader for $27521 and an MX6 for $2100.

This is in TX. Price varies greatly by state.

The list price for the tractor is 27.4K, fel is 4.6K and mx-6 is 2.3K.

You do not mention where this includes freight and set up. That could be about another 1.k.

If it were me I would counter with 20% off these numbers and negotiate from there.

Thanks guys.

From my calculation his quote was about 9% off list. I don't want to make the dealer mad by countering with 20% off. So would 13% be a typical final price? Are the dealers margins real slim to begin with?

Go to the Deere web site and price out the tractor, fel and mower. I think you will see the list price is around 34.3K. Unless I'm missing something I don't see how his numbers are 9% off list.

Around here the going discount is 18-20% off list. Don't know where you are, but would think 15% off is reasonable.

I bought a 4520 jd, 400x loader, r-4 tires, telescopic 3 point hitch extensions, power reverser, delivered for $ 24,500.00 in northeast arkansas almost 1 year ago this month .Dealer started at $ 27,500.00. hydro was about 1000.00 more. I am really happy with the tractor lots of pulling power, starts good in cold weather. only con is the loader's lifting capacity.

Besides price increase, whats the pros/cons of say the top model 3720 vs a 4120 or 4320 series tractor?

I know the 4120+ is heavier, has the 400x loader which can lift more, the tractor itself is easily larger in size.

Would it be worth while to spend a little more for a 43hp or 48hp 4000 model over a 3000 model?

I also noticed that the 3720 and all over 3000 ones have a Yanmar diesel motor, not that theyre not good but the JD Powertechs in the 4000 models are made by JD themselves and made in good old USA. The other is made in japan.

Just like i wouldnt buy a kawasaki motor on a ZTR since i have my option of buying a Briggs or Kohler engine just as easily /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
