Can you use the 420 loader on skid steer type forks. I am buying a used 4210 and I have a set of skid steer forks for a larger Kubota I just sold. Can anyone tell me the pluses and minuses for the 4210. How do ya'll think it measures up to the TYM 273, the JD has 98 hrs on it, eHydro and is in remarkable shape. Thanks

The 420 loader can be fitted with a SS style carrier for about $700 or so, then you would have to modify the bucket to SS style also costing $100-$200. I would suggest selling the SS style forks you have and get a set of Frontier forks that use the JD style Quick-Attach for $700.

As for the 4210, it's a fine machine, although most think it's slightly underpowered at 28HP for it's frame size. It's big brother 4310 was arguably the best selling CUT JD ever had!

kennyd is right on the money.

As for the forks, it may not be worth it depening on what you want to lift. The 4210 with the 420 loader does not have a lot of lifting capacity. Not sure what it is rated at but my friends 4210 can only lift my 665 tiller (about 600 lbs) to about 4' high.

I bought my 4210 in july of 05 (it was a left over 04 model) and liked it very much. It was outfitted with the 300x fel. I believe the 300x is rated around 1000lbs to full lift height. Not sure the ratings on a 420. I only stressed out the loader once when working with wet gravel. Where I live it's called 6/10. It's basically semi crushed gravel with dust mixed in, and when its wet it's heavy. As for the tractor itself, I agree with kennyd, it is a fine machine. Not one problem with it and I worked it pretty hard. I actually miss it. I traded it in on a used 2007 3320 about a month ago.

Kenny,

Does the 420 use the pin spacing of the 200, 300, or 400x loaders?

Thanks,

Joe

The 200 series (210, 200x, 200cx), and the 300 series (300x, 300cx), as well as the older 410, 420, and 430 loader all use the same spacing.

On the new 400 series, the lower pins are spaced about 4" further from the top than the others.

Some of the newer Frontier stuff (like the forks for sure) have lower pins in both places so they can be used on any JD loader with the QA setup.

Clear as mud?:D

Thanks Kenny,

Great info, and it is clear now...basically JD used the same pin spacing until the curved boom 400 loaders came out. These 420 loaders use the same pin spacing as most everything else, and only the new 400 curved boom series uses the larger spacing.

Thanks!

Well I picked up the 4210 on 7/22/08 and was very pleased with it. The previous owner kept good care of it, looked like he never used the loader, the paint was shiny under the bucket. It had 103 hrs on it, everything worked on it, even had extra work lights on the rops forward and rear. I bought tractor/loader, frontier box, frontier finish mower, and a one row side discharge plow, cultivator, and 5ft disc for $15,000. Me and the misses washed and waxed the tractor, then I cut the 5 acres and got it dusty. I will post pics, I wish I would have did B-4 and after pics. It is the ehydro version. It is listed on tractorhouse under the only listing in Louisiana.

That my freind sounds like a great deal! Can your wife teach mine how to wash and wax?

Ditto on that. Maybe she can conduct an online course? :)

I haven't used a 4300/4310 but I don't think my 4200 is at all underpowered. If it had more power, I'd probably spend less time on it, and what fun would that be?!
